The Media Management System (MMS) for LightHouse(tm) is a component that integrates disparate video and audio surveillance and communication systems into a single coherent system for viewing live media as well as recording and review of media, in a standardized and vendor-independent fashion.

Video Management Systems from a variety of manufacturers across the industry, as well as some intercom and audio surveillance systems may be integrated with LightHouse via the Media Management System.  Once integrated, device behavior and use access to media sources is identical for all media devices between all connected systems.  Calling a video feed from one VMS to live view, or playback is identical to the procedure used for every other video feed, for every other connected VMS - regardless of manufacturer.  The same is true for PTZ and preset operations.

This commonality of use simplifies user training, with all user functionality being available by simple drag and drop, or clearly labelled buttons.  Further, this reduces video system vendor lock-in.  The freedom to add a new VMS to an existing facility, without replacing legacy devices OR requiring that operators learn/use two different interfaces - from the operators point of view, there is little to distinguish between video sourced from differing VMS systems.

LightHouse operators can (with authorization) view live media, review recorded media, control PTZ, start and stop recording clips, call salvos, and call/control sequences.  Sequences and salvos may likewise consist of video devices on distinct video management systems with different manufacturers.  Some VMS connections also provide the capability for analytic alarms, and/or other features such as License Plate Recognition searching, also available via the standard LightHouse(tm) user interface.

Media source devices can also be 'associated' with other integrated devices in LightHouse.  For the purposes of explanation, take the instance of a door being associated with a PTZ camera.  The first benefit of this is that if the user attempts to call the door to a video tile (as if the door were a camera), the camera that is associated with the door will be called.  The camera could also PTZ to a preset to cover the door if necessary.  In this way, a single camera could be associated with multiple devices, covering each as they are called. This association also causes media to be automatically displayed to users upon an alarm (i.e. upon alarm on the door device, LightHouse(tm) will PTZ the camera to cover the door and automatically call that camera to operator view).

The Media Management System is a powerful tool that enables fast and accurate display and control of live media, as well as review of recorded audio and video events.  The seamless integration of media components into the system provides for simplified operator training without regard for the number or type of VMS systems or recorders present and connected, while also removing vendor lock-in.
